This is a newer acquisition and is quickly becoming one of my favorite EDC and do all knives
http://www.boriqualeather.com/stuff/knives/trek.JPG

This one has an interesting story. A friend of mine found it in a barn or shop .. and it was blade down in a bucket of something for years. There was heavy drinking so I cant remember the whole story. Anyway he gave it to me and it had some scaling at the edge so that needed to be sharpened away and I then cleaned off all the surface rust and discovered it had an awesome patina under it. I loved it so instead of removing it I cleaned it up and sealed it in multiple coats of renwax. I sanded down the handles but didnt want to remove all the scars and then stained it with some leather dye and finished it up with tung oil. Its a beast at 12 inches and nice edge.

And then my boring EDC for about 19 years now

Ohhhh nice. BG42.

I had a bg42 for a little over a year or so and for whatever reason it was chippy as hell. I didnt think I was putting to shallow an angle .. probably about 22 degrees when I sharpened it or there abouts but ... it was a chippy blade. I wrote to them and in 2003 they asked me to send it in. I did and they sent me a brand new sebenza in S30V and that is the one I have carried and used ever since. I dont baby it and it has been duct taped to poles to cut things 10 feet up and I used to work in fabrications shop way back and it did it all. Opened many a paint can with the spine. Still .. If I cleaned it up you would swear it was new. Sometimes it pays to spend a little more. I actually just found the card that comes with them so my estimate was off and this one has only been with me for about 15 yrs.

That chef's knife was tip down in a horse barn.
The property owner had lived there for ten plus years and told me that he had never even noticed it.
As stated, it was tip down, about half buried, right next to the door on the inside of the barn. It was pure accident that I saw it as it was behind an old wooden milk crate. I was trying to talk him out of the crate and picked it up to inspect it and there was this awesome piece of carbon steel that was in desperate need of rescue. The property owner gave me the crate and the knife just to get them out of his barn.
It was a bit of a project for me. All I really did was knock off the bad rust and re-profile the edge as about 3/4 of an inch of the tip was gone.
I made the mistake of showing it to Boriqua and the rest is history.

By the way, you should show something for scale. This is not a small knife.

That's awesome.

I agree, spend a little more on the knife, and it will generally reward you back.

Regards Gentlemen...
Both have solid G10 handles with D2 blades. Got out of the Knifemaking gig about around two years ago and getting the "Itch"
So much fun and I miss it, If you go to Google Images and look up Hankins Knife there are a few pics there, be aware there is others work there as well.
I will take some time and create a new Pinterest or some other hosting site with a bunch of my stuff that is not shown.
SUGESTIONS!!! on an easy to use pic/video hosting site that is easy for everyone to access?
I have around 5 new designs floating around my cranium and DXF files for a line of Balisongs.

That is pretty sweat .. what kind of lock up?

weenis
09-21-2018, 02:54 PM
It's kind of a frame lock. It's a frame lock, designed like a liner lock (kinda?) with a lock bar stabilizer.

It's a Shirogorov F3, full CF, with a titanium backspacer. Blade steel is M390, and it's one of the earlier serial number versions. It's a multi-bearing system, smooth as butter. Very solid lockup. I'm liking it a lot.

I collect knives, well, kinda. I like cheap ones that are really sharp and handle well. When it comes times to use it, I don't mind losing a $5-$15 blade after it does it's one time job.
